Breaking Rank!

It all changed with the civil rights movement and the Republican takeover of the South. After that,  "the Democrats were the liberal party and Republicans were the conservatives. Some say there just aren't that many people in the middle who can be persuaded to break rank." I don't think that statement is true!  Independents like me can be persuaded it's just not that easy!  I won't march to either drummer( I can't or won't fall into lock step).
