Bush’s Crusade is nothing new. Old men have been sending less fortunate young men and woman out to die for their causes since 1776.

The difference between Bush and his predecessors is the fact that their causes were also our causes, not the result of a preemptive, unprovoked, personal attack on another sovereign nation.

No distorted statistics will change the fact that very rich and powerful men send the children of men not as rich and powerful to die for their ends. New York Times columnist Bob Herbert is quite right. If the Bush twins and the children of members of Congress and oil company CEOs - or, God forbid, the old men themselves - had to fight house to house in Fallujah, Iraq, the cause suddenly wouldn't have been as noble, and this war never would have happened.
