National Identification Card - Just Say No !!!

My German neighbor speaks approvingly of the organization and orderliness of German record keeping.

He says that even today everyone is required to register with the city they live in. They register their name, the names of family members, their ages, their religion, their ethnicity, their occupations, their political party and any trade associations. If an individual moves to a different town, they register again with all the above information.

This was the system that was in place when Hitler came to power. It was a cakewalk for Hitler to identify all intellectuals, communists, Jews, and trade unionists.
