--The administration and the folks at Fox are claiming that the Newsweek story incited riots that resulted in several deaths (never mind that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs has come out and said that the Newsweek article had nothing to do with the riots in Afghanistan).
--A recently released British memo establishes that Bush had made up his mind to go to war with Iraq by the summer of 2002, long before he admitted his intentions. The memo also reveals that the arguments for WMD and an Iraqi threat were weak, so Bush was determined to fix the intelligence to support war. To date, the Iraqi war is estimated to have cost the lives of well over 100,000 Iraqis and over 1,600 Americans.
The difference between Bush and Newsweek is that Newsweek corroborated its story and vetted it with the Pentagon. It was attempting to investigate the truth. Bush, on the other hand, never had the intention of telling the American people anything but lies.
"The trouble with the world is that the stupid are so cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt."
